| If you have a
hobby you are passionate about and you think it will make the
perfect home business then look at it from all angles. First
of all look at the marketing side of the business, is there
much competition and would there be the demand for your
interest. Is it unique and possibly something that could catch
the publics interest or is it what every one else is doing.
What could be started as a hobby
and done in your spare time could develop one day into a full
time business as practice makes perfect and you could become a
real crafts man, no one is sure of what skills they have until
they try.
The art of woodwork is an
almost forgotten business. Years ago when money was scarce
small sheds at the bottom of the garden were used by many
people to create all sorts of wooden items from furniture to
wooden toys and animals as children's playthings. They were
not experienced people just people desperate to earn a living
of some sorts.
You now have the easy option of
buying plans to help you get started in a business that could
prove very lucrative as many people prefer something that is
hand made to some of the flimsy products that are now turned
out by big factories.
The build your yourself
projects that come in flat packs are fine as a temporary piece
of furniture but they are not designed to last forever. Many
are shoddy and ill fitting and not really worth giving house
room but it is big business so it will continue.
Take a look in an antique shop
sometime, almost all the pieces of furniture you see were made
by hand with old fashioned tools they didn't have advantage of
electric drills and such like. Carving was also done by hand
with chisels and suchlike there was no machinery in those days
for the simple workman in his garden shed. You never know you
could possibly be the next Mr Chippendale !
Below you will find websites
that provide free plans for almost anything even to building
your own boat so you could make a start with some small item
to see if you enjoy the challenge. |
